Late Harvest Chenin No. 15
From £21.00
A ripe and luscious wine with notes of apple pie, honey and blossom.
Our Late Harvest Chenin Blanc is a special wine because 2021 was an interesting year for Chateau D’Avrillé vineyard who lost 70% of their grapes due to terrible spring frosts. This means that although they were left with an incredibly small number of grapes, they were in fantastic condition.
The grapes were hand-harvested in several triage during October 2021, meaning grapes were hand-selected across several days, ensuring they were picked at optimum ripeness.
The result? An incredibly high-quality wine from a top-quality vineyard, made using grapes from old vines between 30-60 years old.
This wine is intensely flavoured, and although it’s all about the sweetness, what makes it truly unique is that its high level of sugar is matched with a high level of natural acidity. This means we’re left with a late harvest wine that doesn’t taste as overpowering as some other examples of sweet wine, due to its perfect acid balance.
